Aunt Yyanu Loves You

Are you lonely, are you lost?

I don't know what you need, but I know what I needed. I needed (I still need) to meet and speak with trans femmes in Halifax. I needed to find aunties, sisters, mentors, and peers. I needed it urgently. And I found it. I found friends of friends. I scoured websites and social media, I sifted through the well-meaning but missleading advice of cis people. I blundered down blind alleys by the dozen and found friendly femmes in the funniest places.

I'm starting this webpage out of gratitude for the femmes that came before and reached out and grasped my flailing arms. I'm only trying to add the smallest little bit more to the richness already present in our thriving community of communities.

This is just me, still holding tightly to the fierce femmes who pulled me out of my silly lonely space. I'm just reaching out with my other hand, back into that dark place in case you're like me and want at least one person to see you hear you and talk with you.

I will commit to updating this homepage regularly enough to prove I'm real, alive, and still available. If you get anything out of anything I write, cool. But the only really important part of this website is the "CONTACT" page. Use it. Please. Make contact. Stop wondering if you're alone. You're not. Stop worrying it's only you. It isn't. Stop waiting till the time is right. It's time.

love,

Aunt Yyanu
